Add a photo

1. Put your cursor where you want the photo to go in the entry and click the toolbar’s “Insert photo” button.

2. A new window will appear. Click on “Upload New Photo or Zip.” This will allow you to select a JPG from your desktop. Once you have selected the file, click the blue “Upload” button.

3. Once the file has been uploaded to the database, a new screen will appear that gives you several options for formatting your photo. Rename the photo in title, add tags and fill out the caption (duplicating this caption information into the description field).

4. Select large and left unless the photo is a mughot (then small and left). Check the box next to “link image to full-size version in a popup window.”

Title: Three to five words that describe the contents of the photo. This will be used for the file name and the text that describes the image to search engines. Also consider adding the date – 010510, for example – to the filename.

Tags: Who is in this photos and what is it about? Lowercase each word (even proper nouns) and separate each word or name with a comma. Example: tim duncan, san antonio spurs, nba.

Caption: The published description of the photo.

Description: Duplicate the caption here, adding the photographer’s name and the date the photo was made. You can include notes about the photo in this field. It will not be published.

Display image in entry: This is checked by default. If you uncheck this option, the file will be stored in the blog for use at a later time.

Include in gallery: Do not use when inserting an image in an entry.

Alignment: Left or right — always choose left

Size: Small or large – always choose large, except for vertical mugshots.

Link image to full-size version in a popup window: Always click this to insert a text link below the image that will link to a larger version of the photo.

Assign to a different user: Do not use when inserting an image in an entry

Credit: The published credit that will be displayed above the caption on the blog entry. This is a plain text field and does not rely on impostor. Examples:
* Staff photos: Joe Photographer/The Oregonian
* Special to The Oregonian: Joe Photographer/Special to The Oregonian
* The Associated Press (no byline): The Associated Press
* Family photos: “Courtesy of …”
* Police or company photos: Name of agency (No “Courtesy of …”)

Import EXIF data for this photo: Only select this option if the caption information was inserted into the entry through Photoshop, PhotoMechanic or a similar program.

Moving or changing the size/alignment of a photo: If you would like to move a photo or change the alignment or size of a photo, it is best to delete and reinsert it into the entry.
