1. Go to oregonlive.com and click on the “Not a member? Register Now »” line in the upper-left corner of the home page.

2. Fill out all fields of information (your year of birth and sex do not show publicly). The username should involve your name (a first initial against your last name works well). In the “Display Name” line, enter “Firstname Lastname, The Oregonian”. That will become your byline for all stories.

3. After you’ve created a sign-in, e-mail $online with the username. An online team member will have OregonLive add you to the blog tool. You can then sign in through the newsroom intranet page.
