Portland resident Tara Wooters recruited over 100 people to volunteer, contribute and support Senator Hillary Clinton in her bid to win the Democratic nomination for President. That work earned her a big prize, a sit down with Clinton during her recent trip to Portland to visit Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Wooters said she was surprised at how different she was in real life from how it seems the media portray her. She said she seemed warm and caring — something she would never had known from news reports.

Wooters has a long list of reasons why she believes that Senator Clinton is the best candidate for President. It includes the environment, the country's huge deficit, the war in Iraq, and America's standing in the world. A more personal reason is that her 3 year-old daughter Athena was born with severe visual impairment and benefitted significantly from health care programs that Clinton has supported during her years as First Lady and Senator. But, Wooters is quick to point out that her own personal reasons are nothing when compared to giant global issues.

Recently Wooters and Athena spent an afternoon at The Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden in Southeast Portland.
