Jane Quinn got a surprise for the Mother's Day weekend. Her son Ted came home to visit from Western Oregon University where he goes to school. But that wasn't it. He also told her that he had decided to vote for Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primary. Clinton was Jane's candidate, but was not always Ted's choice. He initially planned to vote for Barack Obama.
Ted is a first time voter this year and Jane wanted to make sure he did his homework. But, she didn't want to influence him too much either. She encouraged him to ask the tough questions of the candidate's policies and make sure that he got the answers he wanted.
When he walked in the door this past weekend, he told his mom that he had decided to vote for Clinton. He said that even though she did not have the same flashiness to her speeches, that he thought she would get the job done more effectively. The mother and son duo attended a Clinton stroller parade Saturday morning that ended at a mailbox where they dropped their ballots together.
Jane says, "I can't even tell you without welling up in tears the pride I had...that i got to do it with him, to share that moment, but also that he took the time to take it seriously and vote and understand what it means and understand that we all have a voice. He chose to use his and make an educated choice for himself. That was a very powerful and emotional and proud moment for me."
